It was a great week at Bickford of Aurora! As we start the month of September, we are looking at the upcoming Respiratory Illness Season. We are gathering our Flu vaccine Consents, Covid booster and RSV vaccine lists together. Our Goal for our Residents is to be vaccinated and stay healthy this year! Our Nursing activity Ask the Nurse was a success, educating our Residents and enjoying Harner's coffee cake and butter cookies. Sending wishes of health and wellness to all this year!!

We love our family nights! This month, Angel’s Grace Hospice and Palliative Care sponsored our entertainer Jane Allyson who had the whole crowd dancing and singing along! Thank you to everyone who came, we can’t wait til next time!

Taco Tuesday today! Jocelyn made tacos for our Ladies Group (their request) and WOW did they all love the tacos and especially the pre packed little condiments. These little extras that we do here at Bickford really make the difference. Thank you Jocelyn!!

Our respite apartment is open again! After being occupied for almost a year, helping many seniors get back on their feet so they can safely return to their homes, we are open and ready for the next senior needing our love and attention. Every other Tuesday, our Executive Director, Bridget, meets with residents during her bi-weekly Fireside Chat. She keeps them up to date on upcoming programs, tells them about new BFMs (staff) joining the Bickford family, and takes their comments and suggestions. Our residents always smile when she says, “Ok, what suggestions do you have for me? Put me to work!” She wraps up each Fireside Chat by saying, “This is my favorite meeting that I have on my calendar!” We think our residents love having this activity on their calendar too! Mary Bickford’s life motto was “Whatever it takes to make you happy.” That motto is the foundation for our culture here and our team strives to make our residents happy every day. Today our Family Advocate, Katie, really hit it out of the park! Each month, she hosts a special lunch for any resident who wants to attend. Last month, someone asked for lasagne. Those of you who have made lasagne from scratch know what a labor of love this is. Katie not only spent part of her weekend prepping her special lasagne sauce, she transformed our Activity Room into an Italian cafe. Thank you, Katie, for doing “Whatever It Takes.”

One of our favorite days of the year, County Fair Day! There were smiles all around this afternoon as BFMs and residents played fair games and enjoyed some tasty prizes!

CARNIVAL FOOD!! Erin outdid herself today with a little help from Darlene in the kitchen. The fried pickes were hand breaded and so delicious. WOW!! The food was amazing. Now onto games and prizes with Jocelyn.

We had the best time on our lunch outing to AC’s Pub just down the street this afternoon! Look at all these smiling faces!!
