Your loved one deserves to live the best life possible

Watch your loved one thrive in an environment that feels like home

Navigating the aging journey is difficult.

We understand what’s at stake here: it’s not just someone, it’s your loved one.

Meanwhile, it’s on you to make the difficult decisions.

There's a Higher Path for our seniors

Senior care today is reactive, expensive, and siloed. It’s a sick-care system, not a health-care system (designed to keep seniors healthy). Most of us have accepted this status quo because it feels too big and complex to change. Not us. We’re taking the road less traveled and championing a higher standard of senior care.

Love wins: A Higher Path of Recovery When Mr K first left for rehab, the goal was clear: regain strength and return home stronger. A retired military officer with a distinguished career, he carried a lifetime of discipline, resilience, and pride. His three sons believed in him completely. But recovery did not go as planned. Instead of gaining strength, he declined quickly. The spunk and determination that once defined him began to fade. It became clear that something was missing. Healing requires more than clinical care and rehab. It requires connection, familiarity, and compassion. Without those, even the strongest can struggle. Our team knew it was time to bring him back to Bickford. From the moment he returned, everything changed. Care here moves at the resident’s pace. In the early days, several staff members supported even the smallest tasks, offering patience, dignity, and encouragement. Nothing was rushed. Meals became meaningful moments of connection, with staff taking time to sit, listen, and gently uplift his spirit. Even the simplest joys, like bus outings for ice cream or bringing back Chinese food after dialysis, gave him something to look forward to and brought a renewed sense of comfort and anticipation to his evenings. Then our home health partners joined the journey, bringing renewed energy and fresh perspective. Together, our teams worked as one, focused on helping Mr K rediscover his strength and a routine. With the daily presence of his lovely supportive partner, progress came in small but meaningful steps. A stronger posture. A longer conversation. A brighter smile. Slowly, the spirit that once defined him began to return. It truly took a village. His family, our caregivers, and our clinical partners all played a part in guiding him back to a higher path of recovery. Through every step, one thing remained at the center of his care: love. At Bickford of Chesterfield, love is the standard we live by. It drives us to meet each resident where they are and support them fully. We are grateful for our village. Because when love wins, we all win.

Mother’s Day Celebration: Honoring the Women Who Make Our Community Home Mother’s Day was a meaningful and heartfelt celebration in our community as we honored the incredible women who have shaped families, shared their wisdom, and continue to inspire those around them. Residents gathered to reflect on cherished memories of motherhood, sharing stories filled with love, laughter, and gratitude. These moments brought people together, highlighting the deep connections that continue to grow within our community. We also took time to recognize that motherhood extends beyond raising children—it lives on in the care, kindness, and encouragement residents show one another every day. That spirit of nurturing is what makes our community feel like home. Whether through family visits, thoughtful messages, or simple shared moments, the day was filled with warmth and appreciation for the women we are so fortunate to know. We are grateful for the strength, love, and legacy of all the mothers in our community—today and always

Celebrating 104 Years: Mrs. N’s Remarkable Milestone Surrounded by Friends Old and New Reaching 104 years of life is an extraordinary milestone—one that reflects a lifetime of memories, resilience, and change witnessed across more than a century. Recently, our community had the joy of celebrating Mrs. N as she marked her 104th birthday, surrounded by the people who have become part of her everyday life: familiar friends, caring team members, and new connections who have quickly become part of her circle. The celebration was filled with warmth and appreciation. What made the day especially meaningful was not just the milestone itself, but the way it was shared. Mrs. N was joined by friends she has known for years within the community, as well as newer residents who have recently become part of her daily social world. Together, they gathered to honor her life story and the legacy of experiences she continues to share. Moments like this highlight the heart of community living. Birthdays are more than dates on a calendar—they are opportunities to reflect on a person’s journey and to recognize the relationships that continue to bring meaning and joy in later years. Mrs. N’s 104th birthday was a beautiful reminder that friendship does not have an expiration date, and that new connections can be just as valuable as long-standing ones. As stories were shared and well wishes offered, it was clear that Mrs. N remains a cherished part of the community fabric. Her presence is a reminder of the wisdom that comes with time, and the importance of honoring each resident’s individuality and life experience. We are grateful to have been part of such a special celebration and look forward to many more moments of joy with Mrs. N and all those who make our community feel like home.

Sometimes the best days are the simple ones. Our residents enjoyed hopping on the bus, taking a relaxing ride, and stopping for ice cream on the way home. Spending time together, enjoying the scenery, and sharing sweet treats made for a wonderful afternoon and even better memories.

In the journey of senior care, particularly in assisted living, we often find ourselves walking a delicate line between joy and sorrow. Each day brings moments of laughter, stories shared, and connections forged, but it also includes the inevitable heartache of saying goodbye. Our residents don’t just become part of our daily routines; they become our family. We celebrate their lives, share in their stories, and, when the time comes, we mourn alongside their families. This week, our hearts are especially heavy as we remember Mrs. M, a cherished resident whose warmth and spirit touched us all. She was more than just a resident; she was a part of our Bickford family, and her passing leaves a profound void. It’s in these moments of loss that we recognize the true essence of our roles as caregivers. We are here not just to support the residents but also to uplift the families left behind, offering comfort in their grief. In a beautiful and unexpected turn of events, we found healing together. Our dedicated staff took a moment to honor Mrs. M’s memory and the unwavering love her daughter and son showed throughout her mother’s life. This afternoon was not just a ceremony; it was a testament to the bonds we've built and the love that transcends even death. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our BFM, Jakie, whose compassion and foresight brought this ceremony to life. It was a moment of unrecognizable healing, where staff and family came together in shared remembrance and support. As we navigate the complex emotions of caregiving, we are reminded of the importance of love—not just in life, but in the goodbyes as well. Love is what binds us, what motivates us to care deeply, and ultimately, what allows us to heal.

We are grateful to welcome a partnership at Bickford of Chesterfield Assisted Living with Rebecca Grinsell, Nurse Practitioner from Beeline Neurology. Bringing this in house mobile specialty service to our residents has already made a meaningful impact in a short amount of time. Rebecca’s thoughtful and compassionate approach has been inspiring. Through careful medication reviews and close collaboration with our primary care team, she is helping our residents feel more comfortable, confident, and supported in their daily lives. One resident in particular has experienced a remarkable transformation. For years, Ms. A struggled both physically and emotionally, often withdrawing from meals and social opportunities due to fear of drawing attention to her condition. Since working with Rebecca, small and intentional adjustments in her care plan have led to life changing results. Today, she is thriving! She joins us for meals with ease, lingers at the table chatting with friends long after dinner ends, and participates in daily activities with a renewed sense of joy. It has been beautiful to watch her confidence grow and her world expand. She is even enjoying increased activity and energy throughout her day. At Bickford of Chesterfield, we call stories like this a Higher Path. While many seniors in other settings begin to feel less engaged, we strive every day to ensure our residents continue to grow, connect, and live fully. Moving into assisted living is not the end of living. It is an opportunity to rediscover the best version of yourself with the right care and support. #Higherpath

Bickford of Chesterfield is a perfect match for my mother in memory care. The smaller number of residents doesn't overwhelm her, the space is homey, and she's treated like a person, not a patient. The employees work well as a team, and are always there when I need them. After a complete fail at a different facility, it's such a relief to have Mom at Bickford!

Moved my mom from another residence where communication was nil. Here at the Bickford, I am updated on physician visits, falls and overall wellbeing. Living 2 hours away, it eases my mind to have these updates!
