Kansas City, MO — Bickford of Marion was recently honored as the winner of three nominees for 2023 Branch of the year at the company’s annual Pearl Ceremony in Kansas City. As part of the annual awards ceremony, Bickford headquarters sent a video crew to capture Marion’s residents and resident family members talking about the impact the BFMs have had on them, and why they deserve the recognition. Here’s what they had to say. Congratulations, Bickford of Marion!

Elena Lightheart: I have no regrets for bringing her here. It was the best place she could have been.

Deb Lukes: Always something going on, and it’s good to see the diversity that they have here with all the residents and with the staff and the activities that they bring are, you know, appropriate, but yet challenging. We can sleep better at night, knowing that we have a place like Bickford for our family. They do such a good job taking care of our loved ones.

Gerald Cunningham: We met some of the people right away, and it just really sealed our heart into having Bickford as a caretaker for my mom. I enjoyed the most about Bickford was the the workers that were here. They made it comfortable for us to come in all the time. When we still walked in the door, the workers here just always had a nice thing to say to us and always talked about how my mom was doing every day. It’s just I really love that.

June Cunningham: I was just so impressed when we stepped in. It’s the inside felt like the out side, very welcoming, like family. Well, my mother-in-law, she could be very opinionated at times. They would just sit and listen to her, let her talk, let her tell her stories. Bickford’s philosophy was very apparent to us. We’d walk in the door. We would always get a hug from the workers here. It was just like our extended family. This one is just like an extension of our family. That’s what it felt like to me.

Sally Treiber: I do not go home and worry. I I feel like they’ve got it under control. I’ve never worried about something going wrong that somebody here couldn’t handle.

Rhonda Reamon: I’m just so impressed with them. And I can’t even single out one of them because they all go above and beyond. You guys have truly become my friends and I appreciate everything that you’ve done for me.

Jeremy O’Brien: The staff is is amazing. Well, the caregivers here I can just tell they care. This isn’t just a job. I can tell that they’re not just punching a time card. They’re here, they care. Well, I read the I actually read the book, and I see, I see those, qualities instilled every time I visit this facility. I think this Bickford Branch in Marion, Iowa is, it’s very special. I can’t thank you enough.
