Pearl Ceremony

Kansas City, MO — Bickford of Chesapeake was recently honored as one of three nominees for 2023 Branch of the year at the company’s annual Pearl Ceremony in Kansas City. As part of the annual awards ceremony, Bickford headquarters sent a video crew to capture Chesapeake’s residents and resident family members talking about the impact the BFMs have had on them, and why they deserve the recognition. Here’s what they had to say. Congratulations, Bickford of Chesapeake!

Mary Abamile: They treat everyone like it’s their own parent. They care. Everyone here knows my mother-in-law as Jeannie. How was she doing? It’s like part of their family, and it truly is the Bickford family. And once you come in, you become one of the Bickford family.

Linda Mines: Bickford is wonderful. We love it here. And every time we leave here, that when we go home at night, we’re not worried that we’re gonna get that phone call that that she’s taken care of properly. A high level of trust with the people here, all the employees. The care for mom has been outstanding. It’s not like they’re doing it because they have to. It’s like they’re doing it because they want to. Everybody hears, like I said, outstanding, and and this is a place to go. This is why Bickford is the best in my eyes.

Arlene Price: Everyone seems to have a genuine concern for each other. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking care of my sweet mom.

Diane Quinn: We have been very pleased. Being at the Bickford has taken our stress down to nothing. And that’s the main thing. You wanna know that your loved one is being taken care of properly. When you see a director like Whitney doing the exercise class for the residents, that says volumes to me that she takes the time out of her day to be part of their lives. And that’s when I knew we were really in, not to just say to see Whitney do that, but that really made us feel like, wow. They care. It’s not just a job. You know what I mean? They always put that extra something something in everything they do. I’m always blown away at all the activities they put on their calendars for their residents. Their food is exceptional. But everything they said about the Bickford is true. What they promise you is what they follow through with, and that’s very important.

Harry Mannlarge: They all are perfect people for their jobs. The staff here is perfect. Well, I think they’ve done a wonderful job.

Nancy Derrick: I mean, I can’t complain. I don’t have any complaints. If that’s what you’re waiting for, but I don’t have any complaints. I just, you know, I’m capable of being friends with everybody, and they’re all really friendly and positive to me.

Karen Buck: The very best part about it is the staff, for sure. They are just so kind. Anything they can do to help you, they want to do that. There there isn’t a single person that I wouldn’t feel comfortable going to and saying, you know, I’m sad or I’m worried or I don’t feel well or, you know, whatever. The staff are super. I want to thank the the Bickford staff, the entire staff. There’s not a single one of you that haven’t reached out to help me and make me feel that this is my home. And you comforted and helped me laugh and made me laugh, and and you’ve cried with me, and you’ve just made this home.
