Thanks to YouTube, we don't need an in-person Zumba instructor to get in a fun and productive workout at Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living and Memory Care! All the residents pushed themselves to the fast paced musical routines, yet had a ball all at the same time!

Mary Bickford was a smart woman! She knew that January is a cold and dreary month, so what better way to warm us up, then by throwing a luau party! And at Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living and Memory Care, that's exactly what we did! From serving treats like fresh pineapple and macadamian nuts to watching an authentic luau and learning a bit of Hawaiian culture, a great time was had by all!

A big thank you goes to Bexley Library for putting on free workshops for the community. A few of us from Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living and Memory enjoyed their "Cookbook Workshop" where we perused old cookbooks for yummy recipes and refurbished them into personalized cookbooks with artwork and homemade pockets to organize our own favorite recipe stash!

Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living and Memory Care has their very on "store" called the Bickford Boutique! Once a quarter, the residents use their saved up Bickford Bucks to "purchase" items such as candy, shampoo, soda pop, brushes, and tissues. Everyone sems to come out for the fun! The BEST part is that the residents who don't get out, can get things they want and need!

It is such a blessing to Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living and Memory Care when Columbus Museum of Art comes to visit with several of their wonderful docents. These ladies share popular artwork with our residents before getting their creative juices flowing with a craft revealing some beautiful artwork of their very own.

When the holidays are over, and the weather outside is still frightful, we can still find something delightful to do outside at Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living and Memory Care... and that's to hop in the van and go somewhere good to eat! Whether it's Mexican cuisine at Mi Mexico or brunch at First Watch, sharing a delicious meal and great conversation with these wonderful people is the highlight of any day, no matter what the weather is doing!

Finding Connection and Wellness: Henry’s Story at Bickford of Bexley When Henry first arrived at Bickford of Bexley, he came directly from living at home. While home had once been familiar and comforting, over time it had become a place of quiet isolation. With access to thoughtfully prepared, well balanced meals and encouragement from staff, Henry began eating more consistently and nutritiously. Mealtimes quickly became something he looked forward to—not just for the food, but for the companionship that came with sharing a table. Rediscovering the Joy of Connection As Henry became more comfortable in his new surroundings, he also began to engage socially. What started as casual conversations with staff and nearby residents soon grew into meaningful connections. Henry now participates in group activities and enjoys social events. Henry’s mood has lifted, his confidence has grown, and he carries himself with renewed energy and purpose. Socializing has helped replace the loneliness he once felt at home with a sense of belonging and community. Nourishing Body and Spirit Today, Henry’s life looks very different than it did before his move to Bickford of Bexley. He is eating nutritious meals that support his health, staying socially active, and enjoying daily routines that bring structure and joy. The combination of proper nutrition, social engagement, and compassionate support has positively impacted his overall quality of life. Henry’s story is a reminder that senior living is about more than just care—it’s about connection, dignity, and helping individuals thrive. Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living and Memory Care needs to do a special shout out to a special lady... Ms. Meghan Dolan! This wonderful woman is an elementary teacher at a local school AND a loving daughter to one of our residents. She spends much of her free time not only visiting her mama, but developing relationships with many of our residents! During school break, she brought 2 special friends, Gizmo and Captain Fluffy, her pet chinchillas! She told us all kinds of fun facts about the animals and of course, everyone got a snuggle! Thank you so much Meghan for all you do for us!

This is a "Better Late Than Never" post! We were blessed with so many concerts over the holidays at Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living and Memory Care, we missed showing off these little sweet ones from the local Brownies Club! Not only did they enjoy singing and spending time with our residents, they want to come back and do it again! Just love the intergenerational togetherness!
