Opening Day fun! Bickford of Rocky River kicked off Opening Day with a birthday celebration for all our March birthdays. Instead of playing a game, we spent the afternoon decorating our own baseball caps. This weekend we’re excited to host our Easter Social with families, complete with an egg hunt for everyone to enjoy. To help lighten the load for our Montessori Coordinator, the ladies from AL and Mary B jumped right in to help fill Easter eggs with candy. For many, this simple activity brought back cherished memories of celebrating Easter with their own families. They shared stories about their traditions, the joy of past holidays, and the excitement they felt preparing for them. Today at Bickford of Rocky River, we had the joy of welcoming Juno from Friendship APL — a sweet, energetic six‑month‑old puppy. She brought smiles to everyone she met, hopping into laps, offering face kisses, and happily accepting treats. Juno quickly made a few new best friends and wasn’t eager to leave their sides, which was truly heartwarming to see. Her visit sparked wonderful conversations among residents about the dogs they have at home and the beloved pets they grew up with. Garden Prep Day at Bickford of Rocky River Today we celebrated National Plant a Flower Day by kicking off our spring garden preparations. Residents in both Assisted Living and our Mary B Neighborhood gathered together to choose the flower seeds they’ll be planting and the vegetables they hope to grow once the weather warms up. Everyone wrote down their selections so we can track each plant’s progress from seed to sprout — a simple step that made the activity feel even more personal and meaningful. One of the highlights of the day was watching how excited our residents were to get their hands in the soil. Many happily dug in with their bare hands, spreading the dirt and preparing their pots with genuine enthusiasm. The energy in the room made it clear: our gardeners can’t wait for warmer days and the chance to plant the seeds they carefully selected today.
