Last night, while the rest of the building was winding down after our Christmas party, Char was busy folding warm napkins, fresh out of the dryer. No one asked her to. There was no schedule, no assignment, no checklist. She simply saw something that needed doing – – and wanted to help. Those napkins were used today in our dining room, folded with care and pride.
While it may seem like a small thing, it’s actually a perfect picture of what life at Bickford is all about. At Bickford of Midland, residents aren’t just cared for—-they’re needed. We believe people thrive when they have a purpose, when they can contribute in ways that feel meaningful and familiar. For Char, folding napkins isn’t a task. It’s a quiet moment of independence, a sense of belonging, a way to feel useful and valued. This is what sets Bickford of Midland apart. We don’t rush past these moments or take them away in the name of efficiency. We create an environment where resident can still be themselves, helpers, caretakers, doers—with support always close by. For families exploring, senior living, moments like this matter. Because a place that feels like home isn’t built on schedules, it’s built on dignity, purpose, and the freedom to help in small, beautiful ways. And today, thanks to Char, our dining room will feel a little more like home.

At Bickford of Midland, the fireplace is glowing, and the residents are taking full advantage of the warmth and the wonderful socialization that naturally happens when everyone gathers around the fire. There's nothing quite like the comfort, conversation, and the sense of togetherness a cozy fire brings. #CozyMoments #FiresideChats #WarmandWelcoming

At Bickford of Midland, Grandma's Kitchen whipped up an old-time favorite-no-bake cookies! One of our BFF's wasn't feeling well, and since these are her absolute favorite, we all pitched in to give a sweet pick- me- up and brighten her day. The best part, as we all know? There were plenty to share, so everyone got to enjoy a delicious treat! #BickfordofMidland #GrandmasKitchen #SweetMoments

Some moments feel like Christmas, and today was one of them. Our residents took our annual visit to Santa‘s House. Bundled up, full of excitement and ready for a holiday magic, the laughter started early when Skip sat down in Santa’s chair and, for a brief and very convincing moment, was mistaken for the real deal. Let’s just say, he wore it well :-) Santa was running a bit behind—sleigh troubles, and as our bus was prepared to leave, we assumed the visit would end. But, Christmas had other plans. Just as we were pulling away, Santa came running, waving and smiling, and jumped right onto our very own HOWIE! He made his way through, talking with each resident, sharing warmth, jokes, and cheer. Then, as only Santa can do, he let us in a joyful sing-along that filled the bus with music laughter, and a few happy tears. It was a reminder that we all needed: Santa is magic at any age – – and at Bickford, we believe in keeping that magic alive. Interested in creating a little holiday magic for someone you love? Please call Darcie at: 989.373.7394 to set up a time to tour our award-winning community.

Bickford of Midland loves spreading Christmas joy, and Beverly did just that as an amazing activities elf. She brought smiles to every resident as she delivered ornaments, and cards to each door. She was a tremendous help, sharing positivity, kindness, and a warm smile every step of the way. #MakingMemories #ActivitiesElf #ChristmasAtBickford

At Bickford of Midland, we love a cozy foot soak and lotion on chilly days, but the true warmth comes from spending time together and discovering the interests we share. #Bickfordof Midland #WarmHearts #TogetherisBetter

Our resident and family Christmas party was filled with laughter, festive cheer and a whole lot of curiosity about who landed on the naughty list and who was nice this year. Santa wouldn’t tell, but the smiles may have given away a few clues. One by one, residents cozied up next to Santa for photos, sharing wishes, stories, and a few playful confessions. Some posed sweetly, some cracked jokes, and a few may have tried to negotiate their way onto the nice list – – just in case. What made the day truly special wasn’t just the red suit or camera flashes, but the joy of being together. Friends laughing. Staff joining in the fun. Families soaking up moments that feel like memories the instant they happen. It was the kind of afternoon that remind us Christmas isn’t about perfection, it’s about connection. At Bickford, we believe the magic of the season belongs to everyone, at every age, and judging by the laughter, hugs, and sparkle in the room, Santa would agree: our residents are very nice indeed. Now, whether they stay that way until next year? Well that’s between them and Santa :-)

The first Friday of December has long been a magical tradition at Bickford of Midland- the day our community transforms into a Christmas wonderland. Our residents rolled up their sleeves and sprinkled their own special touch of holiday cheer throughout the building, and this year was nothing short of spectacular. Laughter mingled with the sparkle of ornaments, festive music filled the halls, and stories of Christmases past warmed every heart.
