Here at Bickford, we deeply value Montessori practices with our residents — finding meaningful, creative ways to help them feel connected to the everyday lives they once lived. One of our residents used to be a woodworker, spending his days sanding, scrubbing, and polishing furniture. To honor that part of his story, we invited him to help us polish pans . As soon as he began, you could see something spark in him — a familiar rhythm, a sense of purpose, a memory waking up in his hands. He truly enjoyed the activity, sharing that it reminded him of the days he used to sand furniture. Moments like these are why we do what we do. They help our residents feel seen, valued, and connected to the lives that shaped them.

This week at Bickford, our residents enjoyed another fun bus trip — this time to the movies right here in town! ???? Keeping everyday routines alive, like grocery runs, park visits, and movie outings, helps our residents feel connected, confident, and truly living their own lives. We’re proud to build a thriving community that extends beyond our walls and into the neighborhood we love. ????

We chose LifeServe because donations stay right here in the Midwest, helping support patients and families in the communities we call home. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who donated, helped spread the word, and showed up to support this meaningful cause. Our residents had a wonderful time enjoying the sunshine, casting a line, and sharing lots of laughs outside! The afternoon was made even sweeter with refreshing margaritas and great company. Moments like these remind us how special it is to spend time together, make memories, and simply have fun. ????☀️???? .

Happy Friday! We are hosting a blood drive here at Bickford. This is a great opportunity to help our community. We hope to see everyone there. A fun fact about this blood drive is that to blood you give will stay in Iowa. So come one out and check us out. We will have food and drinks as well as live music.

Happy Thursday we have had a really busy week here at Bickford. This week we had some live bands come in and join us. We also got some new move ins so exciting. This week was a bus trip to the ice cream store the residents had a blast driving around and seeing the different places around us. We also got to play are favorite card game UNO this worked on our cognition skills. They are not a big fan of the draw 2 card that's for sure. I can't wait to see what more we have planned.

Happy Friday! We have had a lot of fun here at Bickford. We are so thankful for the venders that have come in lately to make these great memories for our residents here at Bickford. A fun memory I would love to share is during our car show it started to rain a bit, but all the residents decided to make the best of it by dancing in the rain it was a blast. After that we shared some food and lots of stories I can't wait to see more of these events happen.
