Kansas City, MO — Bickford of Iowa City Health & Wellness Director Jordan Hopkins was recently honored as the winner of three nominees for 2023 Health & Wellness Director of the year at the company’s annual Pearl Ceremony in Kansas City. As part of the annual awards ceremony, Bickford headquarters sent a video crew to capture Iowa City’s residents and resident family members talking about the impact she’s had on them, and why she deserves the recognition. Here’s what they had to say. Congratulations, Jordan! We’re proud to have you on our team.

Jeane: She’s that second pair of eyes to see what’s going on here with my family member, and not only that, but recognize if there is a problem and take the action to take care of it immediately. Jordan is a very caring and compassionate person. She’s detail oriented in that she can give me the family member a follow-up on an issue that had been going on recently. That is a very good comfort. Jordan, I hope you stick around. Don’t you dare be leaving us. We have a family member here that’s really appreciative of your care. And so as us as family. And I just love having you here as the nursing director.

Cris Morgan: And it’s just so fulfilling as a as a family member to know that you’re family members are loved as much as you love them. She’ll send me pictures. She enriches that happiness by sending me pictures of my dad and her together, or we’ll share stories, you know, that she’s had conversations with my dad. And and that does mean so much because then you know that good things are happening here. She’s always there to support them and to care about them and to help them if they need. Some of my favorite things about Jordan is, her smile and her hard work. I feel very cared for and loved by her, and I’m not even living here. Jordan, I just wanna thank you so much for everything that you’ve done for my family and for me. Please know that you are deeply loved and always know that you need to take care of you and your family so that you can take care of me and my family.

Tressa Brown-Truss: She’s definitely a leader in this community. And she just made me feel at ease and very welcomed. I think the world of her. There’s a fine line between showing respect and also being fun loving and approachable. And she is that. I think you know how much you mean to me. I hope you do. Mom cares about you. You care about mom. I described you as my miracle worker, and I truly believe that. I can’t thank you enough for all the hours and time you spend helping mom and all the residents feel comfortable.

Robert Bock: Very jovial, always happy, go lucky. Being in a good mood most all the time. She’s a very good nurse. She will put a person in good mood also just by making contact with her. Jordan, I hope you win this title, nurse of the year. I’m gonna vote for you. I know. And I think you deserve it.

Ann Bartels: I like Jordan. I feel she does a lot of good around this place, and she’s very warm and friendly and kind. And she’s open. You can always find her and reach her.

Carroll Novak: So one of the things that Jordan did that made mom a lot more comfortable and gave me peace of mind was making some signs, some bright colored, you know, signs for mom to remind her not to get out of bed by herself and, get assistance when she needed to get to the bathroom and so on. That really eased my mind, and it helped mom to try to remember what her limitations were.
