Your loved one deserves to live the best life possible

Watch your loved one thrive in an environment that feels like home

Navigating the aging journey is difficult.

We understand what’s at stake here: it’s not just someone, it’s your loved one.

Meanwhile, it’s on you to make the difficult decisions.

There's a Higher Path for our seniors

Senior care today is reactive, expensive, and siloed. It’s a sick-care system, not a health-care system (designed to keep seniors healthy). Most of us have accepted this status quo because it feels too big and complex to change. Not us. We’re taking the road less traveled and championing a higher standard of senior care.

So Mandy the Activity Director decided to keep everyone on their toes today She switched up the schedule—AM became PM, PM became AM—and honestly, the residents just rolled with it! We had seated kickboxing this morning (yes, kickboxing from a chair), lots of laughs with riddles around 11, and don’t worry… everyone still got lunch! Floor cleaning somehow turned into a Peep taste test, and what was supposed to be a crying matinee turned into a full-on comedy show By the end of the day, it was nothing but laughter and smiles. Definitely one to remember

Wrapped up the day with some good laughs watching Mrs. Doubtfire. Sometimes the best way to end the day is with a little comedy and a lot of smiles.

Sweet Start to Easter: A Peep Taste Test Adventure Today marked the beginning of our Easter activities, and we kicked things off with a fun (and very sugary!) event—a Peep taste test! Residents had the chance to sample सात different flavors of Peeps, including classic regular, cotton candy, Dr Pepper, butterbeer, strawberry, watermelon, and rice crispy. With such a colorful lineup, everyone was excited to see which flavor would come out on top. As the tasting began, reactions were mixed and often amusing. Some residents insisted that no matter the flavor, “they all just taste like marshmallow!” One tenant even claimed every single Peep tasted like cherry—proving just how unique everyone’s taste buds can be. Despite the differing opinions, one flavor stood out above the rest. After all the sampling and discussion, strawberry was crowned the clear favorite among the group! Along with tasting, we also learned a bit about the history of Peeps. When they were first introduced back in 1953, it took an incredible 27 hours to make just one Peep by hand. Thankfully, innovation came along when the founder’s son created a machine that reduced production time to just six minutes per Peep—a huge leap that helped make them the popular treat we know today. It was a wonderful way to start the Easter season—filled with laughter, conversation, and plenty of sugar. We’re looking forward to more festive activities in the days ahead!

Just another beautiful day yesterday here at Bickford of Cedar Falls. We had a great time playing one of our favorite games—Noodle Ball! It’s always full of laughs, smiles, and a little friendly competition. Moments like these make every day special

There’s something special about the start of baseball season—the crack of the bat, the smell of fresh-cut grass, and the promise of long, sunny days ahead. Opening Day isn’t just a date on the calendar; it’s a feeling. It signals a return to tradition, nostalgia, and the simple joy of the game. This year, we wrapped up Opening Season in the best way possible—by leaning into everything that makes baseball more than just a sport. After a full day of enjoying the excitement of the game, we settled in on Thursday night to watch The Sandlot, a movie that perfectly captures the heart and soul of baseball. With popcorn in hand, peanuts nearby, and soda to wash it all down, it felt like we had brought the ballpark right into our living room. There’s something timeless about The Sandlot—whether it’s the friendships, the adventures, or the legendary stories that every kid who’s ever played the game can relate to. It reminds us that baseball isn’t just about scores and stats—it’s about memories, laughter, and moments that stick with you long after the season ends. As the credits rolled, it was clear: this was the perfect way to close out Opening Season. A little baseball, a little nostalgia, and a lot of appreciation for the traditions that make the game so meaningful. Because in the end, baseball isn’t just something we watch—it’s something we experience, together.

Opening Day Fun: Pin the Ball on the Bat! ⚾ On Thursday, March 26th, we kicked off MLB Opening Season with a fun and creative twist on a classic party game. You’ve heard of Pin the Tail on the Donkey—but have you ever played Pin the Ball on the Bat? Our residents had a blast stepping up to the plate and giving it their best shot! One by one, each participant took their turn, aiming to place the ball as close to the bat as possible. There were plenty of laughs, friendly competition, and lots of cheering along the way. The fun didn’t stop there—the staff joined in too! After watching the residents take their swings, staff members took a spin and tried their luck at placing the ball on the bat. A big congratulations goes out to our resident winner, Loretta, who nailed it and got the closest of all! And a special shoutout to Mandy, our Activity Director, who managed to outscore the rest of the staff—great job! It was a wonderful way to celebrate Opening Day, bringing everyone together for a game filled with joy, laughter, and a little friendly competition. Way to go, everyone!

Yesterday, residents enjoyed a relaxing day painting suncatchers. With a variety of colors and designs, each person created something unique and beautiful. The activity brought plenty of smiles, creativity, and a wonderful sense of calm to the day.

We have been very satisfied with the care and attentiveness service to my mother in law

I would like to start by saying that if I could give individual satisfaction ratings to each staff member, some would definitely receive a 5!  There are some Bickford staff that have a heart for people and care immensely about each person - resident and staff.  There are some that are there for a paycheck and it doesn’t take long to figure out which is which! | I would like to highly commend (name removed).  They have unenviable jobs and put their heart and soul into each day!  So often, they are filling in the slack for someone else who didn’t show up, is sick, or is there but doesn’t feel like working!  They do a wonderful job, each in their role!  I have spent a lot of hours at Bickford in the last few months due to the poor health of my Aunt.  It is easy to evaluate matters, for the most part.  I have also been involved with Bickford for over 5 years and seen many staff come and go through those years.  You have had some excellent nurses who did their job superbly, but were overworked, by all standards. Some of them did not have back up from the director that was in place at that time.   It is not feasible to have one person responsible for so many areas of care and expected to be available at all times.  (name removed) has not asked me to say any of this or encouraged me to do so.  This is my observations and thoughts, and I also see it from a nurse’s perspective, as well as a family member.  I know the attitude of workers is for the most part, poor, these days, but I do see where there are areas that corporate support and back up would be helpful to consistently remind/ train CNA’s/ med techs in their responsibilities and help hold them accountable, rather than let them by with their lack of responsibility.  (name removed) has made wonderful changes at CF Bickford and definitely has given a sense of “working together” and “for the good of our residents and staff” back to this branch.  It was greatly lacking with previous directors that I was f
