Loretta, one of our residents who is blind, spent a long time avoiding many of the activities offered in our community because of the challenges associated with her disability. She often chose to stay in her room rather than participate in group events.
With the encouragement, support, and patience of Mandy, our Montessori Engagement Coordinator (MEC), along with the nursing staff, Loretta gradually began stepping out of her comfort zone and attending activities. As her confidence grew, so did her involvement in community life.
Today, Loretta regularly participates in a variety of activities and looks forward to spending time with others. Some of her favorite activities include bingo, bowling, taste testing, trivia, bean bag toss, and noodle ball. Through consistent support and inclusion, Loretta has become more engaged, social, and active within the community.
Her journey is a wonderful example of how encouragement, compassion, and teamwork can help residents overcome barriers and discover new opportunities for joy and connection.

PIE IN THE FACE FUNDRAISER! Get ready for some summer fun while supporting a great cause! Starting now, you'll see donation jars labeled with the names of our Leadership Team members and BFMs. Want to see someone get a pie in the face? Simply drop your donation into the jar of the person you'd most like to nominate! How it works: Donate any amount to the jar of your choice. The person whose jar collects the most money will earn the honor of getting a pie in the face! Even better, they will get to choose which resident gets to throw the pie! The big event will take place on June 24th during our Bringing in Summer Bash! This is just one of several fundraisers we'll be hosting throughout the year. All proceeds will go toward resident activities and helping us create a wonderful and memorable Christmas season for our residents. Every dollar makes a difference and helps us provide special experiences, fun events, and holiday joy for those we serve. Thank you for your support, and may the best pie target win! #PieInTheFace #FundraiserFun #BringingInSummerBash #SupportingOurResidents #CommunitySpirit #MakingMemoriesTogether

On Wednesday during Cooking Corner, our residents enjoyed making their very own Pie in a Cup! Each resident was given step-by-step instructions to create their delicious treat independently. Step 1: Crush the graham crackers Step 2: Place the crushed graham crackers into a cup Step 3: Add 2–3 spoonful's of your favorite pie filling Step 4: Top with whipped topping and enjoy! Everyone had a wonderful time following the instructions, making choices, and creating a tasty dessert. It was great to see so many smiles as residents enjoyed their homemade treats!

National Cheese Day Fun! On Thursday, June 4th, we celebrated National Cheese Day by sampling five different kinds of cheese and learning all about their history and varieties! After tasting each cheese, we voted on our favorites. The winners were Boursin Garlic & Herb and Garlic & Herb Brie—both were a big hit! We also discovered some interesting cheese facts, including that there are over 2,000 different types of cheese made around the world. We learned about the origins of cheese and how it has been enjoyed by people for thousands of years It was a fun and delicious way to learn something new while trying different flavors! #NationalCheeseDay #CheeseLovers #LearningThroughFun #TasteTest #FoodFacts #Boursin #BrieCheese

Montessori Approach in Senior Living The Montessori approach in senior living is a person-centered philosophy that focuses on dignity, independence, and purpose. It empowers seniors to reconnect with meaning in their daily lives by providing a prepared environment, meaningful activities, and choice and independence. The approach emphasizes respect for the individual, purposeful engagement, and the focus on strengths, allowing seniors to participate fully in life, regardless of their diagnosis. Scott and Betty enjoy helping out around our community each day! Scott lends a hand by cleaning up the dining room after lunch, while Betty helps deliver mail to residents' rooms. Not pictured are Mary and Dianne, who stay busy wrapping silverware and folding kitchen laundry. These meaningful tasks give our residents the opportunity to stay active, contribute, and take pride in helping within our community. We love seeing our residents share their talents and make a difference every day!

On Monday, residents had the opportunity to help with meal preparation by cutting vegetables for the kitchen. It was wonderful to see everyone participating, working together, and contributing in a meaningful way. Activities like these not only encourage independence and life skills but also provide a sense of accomplishment and connection.
