We are so excited to welcome new Health & Wellness Director, Kelly Kane to our Bickford of Ames family. We are so excited to have all of her years of nursing knowledge and to have an such excellent teacher to guide our caregivers. We will be hosting a Meet & Greet for friends and family on May 13th at 2:00p.m. in our dining room! Come enjoy snacks and conversations!

Today was perfect weather to “Cruise the Seas.” We enjoyed morning bible study with Pastor Greg, always a pleasure to hear him preach on Thursday mornings. In the afternoon we enjoyed the lovely weather outside, watched ocean documentaries, had a party with snacks and good company and finished off our day with some bingo! We were thrilled to have the guys of Theta Delta Chi from Iowa State University come join us for all the fun today :)

Some Bunny at Bickford Loves You!!! We’re getting into the Easter spirit over here :) Eva with 7C Rabbits was kind enough to bring her bunnies in for us to see again. We absolutely adore them! We got to play some bingo later this afternoon which sure was a treat. Included are some photos from yesterday when we did manicures and watched Grease in the evening :)

I am so thankful to have found Bickford for my elderly friend. It has turned out to be the perfect size community for him - a great fit! All of the staff is super caring and attentive and I appreciate them so much. My friend and the other residents especially enjoy spending time in the lovely outdoor courtyard in the spring, summer, fall. Thank you Bickford, for all you do each and every day for our loved ones!

Excited to hear of the redecorating. (name removed) room really needs new carpet and paint. I would like his walls to be a light gray/blue color. More peaceful I think.

I continue to be highly satisfied with Bickford. My friend who resides at Bickford is very comfortable and content and views Bickford as his home. The staff is very caring, kind, and responsive. My friend enjoys the Happy Hour event on Friday afternoons and in the summer he LOVES spending time in the beautiful courtyard. A+ service and care at Bickford!

(name removed) has been at Bickford for over 5 years. He does not like to leave so that means to me he likes it there!! Now , just get him to cut his hair and trim his beard!!!

I would like first to give shoutouts to several of my dad (name removed) caregivers: (name removed) (sorry if I misspelled anyone's name, and I also if I missed anyone). What I appreciate most is that they take the time to chat with (name removed)--he really needs this because he tends to socially isolate himself. He also enjoys (name removed) friendliness. All the activities that (name removed) plans seem wonderful, but so far (name removed) has not wanted to take part. (name removed), don't give up on him--keep inviting him! I could see him enjoying the Friday happy hour and events where young people are involved. (name removed) continues to like the food and the dining room atmosphere. Thanks to the cooks! This is more my personal issue, but I have been trying to convince him to get out more--for a drive, a visit to DQ, a meal at my house, or even just to spend time in the Bickford courtyard. He really resists. If anyone has any ideas how how to convince him, I am open to them! I will be on trips in September and November that will take me out of town for a couple weeks each time. (name removed) may need a little extra help with housekeeping in his unit while I am away. I will communicate with staff about this before my trips. Finally, (name removed) needs to walk more. Anything staff can do to get him up and moving more is appreciated.
