Tea, treats, and treasured memories filled the room yesterday as a former resident’s family member, Aimee, returned to spend time with our residents by hosting the sweetest Girl Scout Cookie & Tea Party! Residents enjoyed sampling their favorite Girl Scout cookies, sipping tea, sharing stories, and playing tea party themed bingo together. In 2018, my wife was evaluated as a hospice patient with dementia. My son (Scott) agreed that we would not be able to provide the care she would need and began looking for an assisted living facility. My son lived in Suffolk, VA and discovered a new facility named Bickford Assisted Living and Memory Care. Upon investigating, we found just what we wanted, being new and only one mile from Scott’s home was a big plus and I quickly moved to his home from VB. My wife was treated with care and compassion for 13 months before succumbing to complications of dementia. When another fall broke my other hip, I chose to move into Bickford because of the care my wife received. I became a resident in Feb, 2025 and have had no regrets. Concerns of all residents are discussed at monthly resident/management meetings and corrected as needed.
