What a wonderful evening celebrating together at our Memorial Day Cookout!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make tonight so special for our residents and families. From our dedicated Nursing BFMs who provide exceptional care each day, to our amazing Kitchen Team who prepared a delicious meal, and our BLT Team who worked behind the scenes to bring everything together—your teamwork, hard work, and big hearts made the magic happen.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to our community partners, Medi Home Health & Hospice, Humana, and Ned Harris Music, for helping make this event such a success. Your support, generosity, and commitment to our seniors helped create an evening filled with great food, wonderful music, and meaningful memories.
Events like these remind us that Bickford is more than a community—it’s a family. Thank you to everyone who came together to honor Memorial Day and create a special experience for our residents and their loved ones.
We are grateful for each and every one of you!

Our Mary B’s Book Club recently gathered to enjoy a short story together. Everyone had a chance to participate as we took turns reading aloud while others listened, shared smiles, and followed along. Reading together is about so much more than the story itself. It encourages conversation, supports cognitive engagement, and creates meaningful moments of connection. We love seeing each resident contribute in their own way, whether by reading a passage, listening closely, or reminiscing about stories from years gone by. At Mary B’s, every voice matters, and some of the best memories are made one page at a time. #MaryBs #MontessoriInspired #BookClub #PurposefulEngagement #MeaningfulMoments #BickfordSeniorLiving

Over the weekend, we were delighted to welcome the Tidewater Clown Arounds, a wonderful group of volunteer clowns who brought joy, laughter, and plenty of fun to our community! One of the highlights of the visit was seeing our resident Janet, who used to perform as a magician, light up with excitement as she had the chance to clown around once again. Her enthusiasm and playful spirit were contagious, and our other residents enjoyed every smile, joke, and silly moment right alongside her. At Bickford, we believe meaningful moments and shared laughter create lasting memories. Thank you to the Tidewater Clown Arounds for spreading happiness and reminding us all that you’re never too old to embrace your inner clown! #ClowningAround #Magical #TidewaterClownArounds #Higherpath #BickfordSeniorLiving #Montessori

Montessori in Action at Mary B’s! Our Mary B’s residents have been hard at work preparing a special homemade BBQ rub for families and guests to enjoy at our upcoming Father’s Day Car Show! One of the core principles of Montessori is that everyone has a meaningful role, and today our residents truly took the lead. Mary carefully read the instructions and guided the group by telling us which ingredient to add next. Steve measured spices, assisted with mixing, and created the labels for each jar. Alan put his muscles to work by helping mix everything together and filling the jars. By breaking the project into purposeful roles, each resident was able to contribute their strengths and be part of something meaningful. The result was more than just a delicious BBQ rub—it was teamwork, purpose, and pride in a job well done. Be sure to stop by our Father’s Day Car Show to see the finished product and celebrate the incredible talents of our residents! #MontessoriMoments #MaryBs #PurposefulLiving #DementiaCare #MontessoriInspired #FathersDayCarShow #BickfordFamily #LifeAtBickford

At Bickford, resident voices matter! During our latest Resident Council meeting, our residents voted to add a new Resident & BFM Spotlight section to The Bickford Bulletin newsletter as a way to help everyone get to know each other better. After the meeting, residents worked together to create a list of interview questions and eagerly discussed who should be featured first. The decision was unanimous—Tom, one of our amazing Dietary Aides, was selected as our very first spotlight! Our newsletter editor, Jerry, stepped into the role of reporter and sat down with Tom for the inaugural interview. We love seeing residents take ownership of community projects while building meaningful connections with the BFMs who make Bickford feel like home. Stay tuned for Tom’s spotlight in the next edition of The Bickford Bulletin! #BFMs #BickfordBulletin #Newletter #Editor #Montessori

Just a couple of gardeners trying to beat the rain Marian and I spent some time outside getting our plants in the ground before the weather rolled in. There’s something special about digging in the dirt, sharing stories, and watching our garden grow together. We can’t wait to see all the color blooming soon! #gardenclub #sunshine #rainraingoaway #greenthumb #bickfordseniorliving #montessori

Our residents spent the morning creating beautiful sunflower sticker wreaths, and every wreath turned out as unique as the person making it! Activities like this are more than just crafts — they encourage creativity, support fine motor skills, and give our residents the opportunity to make choices and express their own personal style. From carefully placing each sunflower to proudly showing off the finished wreaths, the room was filled with smiles, conversation, and lots of sunshine. We love seeing our residents bring their creativity to life one sticker at a time! #SeniorLiving #MontessoriMoments #CreativeAging #SunflowerSmiles #BickfordOfSuffolk

Tea, treats, and treasured memories filled the room yesterday as a former resident’s family member, Aimee, returned to spend time with our residents by hosting the sweetest Girl Scout Cookie & Tea Party! Residents enjoyed sampling their favorite Girl Scout cookies, sipping tea, sharing stories, and playing tea party themed bingo together. Moments like these remind us that once you become part of our family, you’re always part of our family. Thank you for continuing to pour love and kindness back into our community. The laughter, conversation, and smiles shared made it truly special! #TeaPartyFun #GirlScoutCookies #SeniorLivingMoments #CreatingConnections #BickfordFamily #MontessoriMoments
