Colon cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer -- yet it remains one of the most commonly diagnosed. For older adults, regular screening can truly save lives. In our assisted living community, wellness and quality of life are priority and preventive screenings like colon cancer testing play an essential role in keeping residents healthy and thriving. We are making it easy and non-invasive for our residents to receive free colon cancer screening. Screening is done with a simple blood test and all done without having to leave our community. On February 18, 2026, from 1pm til 5pm, medical staff will be onsite to perform the blood draws needed in order to perform the screening. If you would like your loved one to receive this screening, please notify Marla Smith, RN Health and Wellness Director at 309-360-9644 prior to February 18th so that she can get them signed up. In our assisted living community, our goal is not only to support daily needs but also to promote proactive health management. We work closely with residents, families, and healthcare providers to ensure recommended screenings are discussed and scheduled when appropriate.
