It looks like we were busy on Mother’s Day at Bickford! Cards were made and sunshine was plentiful! We hope you all had a special day with special people too!

Friendship and connection never go out of style. Today, a family member said something to me that really stuck: “When it comes to my mom’s well-being, it’s better to be a minute too early than a minute too late.” Through what felt like divine coincidence, they were able to step in during a situation that could have become a much bigger one. As they looked deeper, they realized there had been signs all along — little things Mom was very good at covering up. The family shared that moving her to Bickford was the right choice. One of their biggest worries was socialization. Every time they visited before, Mom seemed “busy” — doing puzzles, cleaning, staying occupied. But busy is not the same as connection. Happy Nurses Week to our awesome nurse Laura!

On Wednesday, we held a Tea Party to honor our beautiful ladies. Jess had prepared some reminiscing topics and the laughter and smiles over the memories was very touching. We also played “Name the Cake” and “ What are you Drinking” to mix things up a little! Cake Balls and dipped strawberries were a hit along with coffee and tea!

Today at Bickford, our ladies enjoyed a relaxing and serene Spa Day filled with polished nails, cosmetics, sweet treats, and lots of laughter. Residents were pampered with fresh nail polish colors, a little glam time, yummy chicken salad on crackers, and delicious sugar cookies that disappeared faster than the hand lotion. The atmosphere was peaceful… mostly. Jess attempted to set the mood with her “relaxing” music playlist, which may or may not have sounded like elevator music trapped inside a rainstorm soundtrack.
