County Fair Day at The Rivers at Maryland Farms was magical! Our special guest magician wowed everyone with balloon animals, friendly birds, and even a fluffy bunny that stole the show. Our residents enjoyed the sweet tastes of summer with lemonade, popcorn, and cotton candy, plus all the fun of classic carnival games! What a wonderful summer celebration!

Our residents couldn’t stop laughing and waving as this giant, lovable “pup” trotted through the halls. Spike posed for photos, accepted plenty of pets, and seemed to enjoy all the attention (and maybe the occasional sneaky treat).

Shark Week came to life at The Rivers at Maryland Farms assisted living and memory care! Today was jaw-some! In honor of Shark Week and the 50th anniversary of Jaws, our residents got a surprise visit from a very special (and friendly!) shark! Some residents even shared memories of seeing Jaws in theaters back in 1975 — and yes, a few admitted they haven’t looked at the ocean the same way since! We love creating fun, engaging experiences that bring joy and nostalgia to our community. And today? We definitely made a splash!

Sheila, known for her dedication and warmth, was visibly moved by the spontaneous outpouring of love. At The Rivers at Maryland Farms, every Friday is a chance for our residents to shine, connect, and express themselves through Fashion Fridays. Rooted in our Montessori-inspired approach to care, Fashion Fridays are more than fun outfits—they’re meaningful opportunities for residents to make choices, spark conversations, and celebrate creativity. Each week features a new theme that invites both residents and staff to dress in a way that reflects the spirit of the day. After enjoying live music together, we gather for a group photo, capturing the joy and individuality that make our community so special. This month’s themes were patriotic and included red, white, and blue for Star Spangled Banner, orange and yellow for Dawn’s Early Light, bold reds for Rockets’ Red Glare, and regal purples for Purple Mountain Majesty. Next month, we’re heading down the yellow brick road with The Wizard of Oz as our inspiration. Themes will include: Tin Man (wear silver) Scarecrow (wear plaid) There's No Place Like Home (wear your favorite shoes) Follow the Yellow Brick Road (wear yellow) Wicked Witch vs Good Witch (wear green or pink) At The Rivers, every day is an opportunity for residents to engage, belong, and express who they are.
