Here at Bickford of Okemos, for Labor Day our residents spent the day learning about the history and meaning behind the holiday, honoring the hard work and contributions that have helped shape our communities and country! We also enjoyed a few friendly games of UNO, cooled off with delicious snow cones, and shared lots of laughter along the way. One of the most special parts of the day was hearing residents reflect on their past careers and accomplishments. Here at Bickford of Okemos, we had a grand slam of a day! Our residents recently enjoyed an exciting outing to Jackson Field, home of the Lansing Lugnuts, for an afternoon full of baseball, friendship, and fun! Nothing says "ballgame" quite like a classic lunch of hot dogs, chips, and pop while cheering on the home team! As the game went on, smiles filled the stands, and during the 7th inning stretch, our group proudly sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" together. Here at Bickford of Okemos, our residents were invited to attend the monthly Memory Café hosted by the Greater Lansing Care Foundation, and this month's theme was a fun-filled Karaoke Party! The afternoon was packed with activities, including watercolor painting, delicious food, cake, and plenty of laughter. We especially enjoyed cheering on everyone who bravely shared their singing talents. One of the biggest highlights was seeing our Activities Director take the microphone and perform for the group, our residents absolutely loved it! One of our wonderful residents recently joined our Activities Director on a special trip to pick up lunch from McDonald's for their friends back at the community. Our residents were thrilled to harvest a wonderful bounty from our community garden, including fresh zucchini, bell peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes.
