Some people have a way of making themselves indispensable wherever they go. At Bickford, that person is Terry.
Before joining our community, Terry spent 45 years in the cable industry, eventually retiring as a manager with Comcast. Along the way, he built a reputation as the person you called when a problem seemed impossible to solve. Difficult customers, challenging situations, complicated issues. Terry was often the one trusted to step in, listen, and find a solution.
But long before his career, Terry proudly served his country as a veteran, demonstrating the same dedication, commitment, and work ethic that would define the rest of his life.
Today, those qualities continue to shine.
Terry has always been someone who enjoys staying active and keeping his hands busy. While many people might view retirement as a time to slow down, Terry continues to find purpose in helping others every day. Walk through our dining room before a meal and you may find him carefully setting tables. Stop by after lunch and there's a good chance, you'll see him helping clean up and prepare for the next gathering. If there is an activity taking place, Terry is often ready to lend a hand there, too.
What makes Terry so special is that he doesn't help because he has to. He helps because serving others is simply part of who he is.
His contributions may seem small to an outside observer, but to our residents, families, and team members, they mean so much more. Terry helps create a sense of community, purpose, and belonging. His willingness to jump in and pitch wherever needed reminds us that everyone has gifts to share and meaningful roles to play.
In many ways, Terry has become the heart of our memory care neighborhood. He is a familiar face, a helping hand, and a steady presence. Whether he is wiping down tables, assisting with activities, or sharing stories from a lifetime of service and problem-solving, Terry makes our community a better place.
We often talk about helping residents continue a life's purpose through Higher Path. Terry is a beautiful example of what that looks like. His career may have ended, but his desire to contribute, serve others, and make a difference continues every single day.
Terry is more than a resident. He is a veteran, a leader, a problem solver, and an important part of our family.
