There is just something about the sights, sounds, and even the smells of the Nebraska State Fair that brings back so many memories! We took another group of our residents to enjoy a day at the fair, and I think some of our former farmers especially enjoyed seeing all the cattle and farm animals. Watching their faces light up and hearing them share stories from their farming days made the trip even more special. Sometimes an outing is more than just getting out and having fun... sometimes it takes you right back to a place filled with memories. Celebrating Our Community Heroes! Today, we had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting for the new Fire Station #3, located right down the block from us! Being just down the block from us, these amazing firefighters are always there when our Bickford family needs them. Today, it was our turn to show up and support them as they celebrated their beautiful new home! Congratulations to Fire Station #3! A little curiosity, a lot of laughter, and plenty of fun made for a wonderful day out! We had such a fun day out in our community visiting our local EPIC children’s museum and enjoying all the hands on activities. If you haven’t had a chance to stop by yet, we definitely recommend it! The building itself also brought back some memories, as it is located in the old artillery building in town. Some of our residents even remembered the building from years ago and enjoyed sharing their memories. After all that fun, we topped off our outing with a refreshing treat from a local Barista’s coffee shop. Senior Citizens Day called… and we understood the assignment! Today, we decided that being a senior citizen doesn't mean you have to act like one! We brought out our inner kids, kicked off our shoes, and turned the day into a Senior Slip & Slide Celebration! There were splashes, laughs, cheering, and maybe a little friendly competition. Because around here, we believe you're never too old to play, laugh until your cheeks hurt, make a mess, or create a memory you'll be talking about tomorrow! What a fun-filled day out in our community! For National Radio Day, we visited a local KRGI radio station and got a great tour. Then we headed out for some delicious burgers at a local restaurant that recently reopened, Sin City.( the food was delicious!)
