Note of gratitude- This afternoon we enjoyed the wonderful music of AJ Crutchfield. Allen has been visiting us for several months now, and has been joyfully sharing his music gift/ skills with us! He is beautifully making connection and warming our resdents' hearts. He's always very modest and today, he ended his performance with scripture and a moving sermon- like message, leaving several of our resident's emotional. In his element, for sure! Allen is a former pastor and has been blessing our Des Moines metro area, performing both secular and Christian music, no charge. Want to express our gratitude. We look forward to his next visit! We opened the doors and one, two, three... no four and they kept coming by the numbers! We surrounded our residents this afternoon will all sorts of dogs and their owners!! Our living room, hallways and our Mary B's Care area were filled with pups, laughter and so much joy! We didn't stop at that though! Suncrest Hospice not only brought their therapy dogs, they also provided us with yummy chocolate donuts! It was a memorable afternoon for all and I think we tired out those adorable dogs! Thank you Suncrest Hospice, friends and especially our residents/ family for bringing your dogs for us to enjoy!!

FRIENDSHIP One of the most important things in senior living is establishing happy, healthy relationships. It's a joy to especially see new friendships forming with residents in all levels of care! Whether it's commonalities/ interests or just plain comfort around another... these kind of relationships certainly are priceless and a vital part of aging and transitioning!

Thank you Suncrest hospice for making this place POP yesterday! Suncrest had an amazing popcorn bar for our wonderful CNAs and some other goodies. Thank you for showing our CNAs so much love, look at those smiles! :)

Our Father's Day splash went over exceptionally well, with some live music from Brian Bopp! Our men especially enjoyed listening and singing along to his beautiful guitar/ vocal music! Brian is with Suncrest Hospice. He visits regularly and provides for residents needing specialized care, some wonderful therapeutic/ ministry music and uplifting conversation. Thank you, Brian! It is a special treat for our entire community to listen to him as well, as he has shared his music with us before. We themed our Father's Day social with some 'fishing' touches and enjoyed acknowledging all the wonderful father's that reside here! It was a special afternoon!

We had a wonderful event, "Saddle Up Your Horses" for our western day this week, here at Bickford of West Des Moines! This wonderfully calm horse named Cally, brought so much joy to our residents and staff! We wrapped up our event by coming inside to cooler temperatures, to enjoy some refreshments and socializing! Thank you very much Ron & Reagan for bringing your horse for us to enjoy!!
