We are honored to share that Bickford of Macomb has been named a 2026 AHCA/NCAL Bronze National Quality Award recipient!
While Bickford of Macomb is on the award, we want to send recognition to the incredible frontline caregivers who show up each day with compassion, patience, and dedication. They are the ones who hold hands, share laughs, provide comfort, celebrate victories, and make every resident feel valued and at home.
Quality care isn't something that happens because of a plaque on the wall—it's built through countless moments of kindness, teamwork, and genuine connections. This award reflects the heart our caregivers, nurses, culinary team, housekeeping, maintenance, and every team member bring to our residents each and every day.

Yesterday, our residents enjoyed a special visit with two friendly horses from a neighboring farm as part of an equestrian therapy experience. ❤️ Through a Montessori-inspired approach, residents were encouraged to engage in a meaningful, hands-on experience that connected with their interests, life stories, and personal memories. For many, interacting with the horses sparked conversations about growing up on farms, caring for animals, and the simple joys of country life. Experiences like these support Bickford's Higher Path philosophy by honoring each resident's unique history while creating opportunities for purpose, connection, and joy. The gentle presence of our four-legged visitors brought smiles, encouraged social engagement, and fostered a sense of belonging for everyone involved. Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen when we connect with the world around us—and this week, that connection came with four hooves and a kind heart. ???? A heartfelt thank you to Madison, Mary and Dave for sharing your beauties with us! #HigherPath #MontessoriForAging #MeaningfulMoments #EquestrianTherapy #BickfordFamily #PurposefulLiving

On this last day of National Nurses Week, we're celebrating a very special nurse in our community! Long before becoming one of our beloved residents, Kay dedicated her career to caring for others while working in a local doctor's office. Her compassion, hard work, and servant heart made a difference in countless lives throughout the years. We are honored to now care for someone who spent so much of her life caring for others. Thank you, Kay, for your years of service, kindness, and commitment to helping your community. Your nursing spirit continues to shine bright each and every day!

A beautiful day, meaningful work, and a sense of purpose; These ladies enjoyed a trip to Walmart to pick out tomato plants for our container gardens, and proudly helped plant them here at home! From choosing the perfect plant to getting their hands in the dirt, this experience was much more than gardening- it was a true Montessori moment. Engaging in real, purposeful tasks that support independence, choice, contribution, and connection to daily life. Gardening encourages nurturing, responsibility, sensory engagement, teamwork, and pride in accomplishment. This is also a reflection of Bickford's Higher Path expectation, by helping our residents continue to live with purpose, dignity and joy. We cannot wait to watch these tomatoes grow right alongside the smiles that planted them! #MontessoriMoment #HigherPath
