The mums are mumming today at Bickford!

Our residents enjoyed a special outing to experience a piece of history! They were able to see World War II memorabilia and watch reenactments that brought history to life. It was a great day filled with history, learning, and a chance to experience something a little different. Thank you to everyone who made this trip possible!

Today's activity was as sweet as pie! Our residents made their own individual apple pie in a cup, enjoying the opportunity to take the lead, make choices, and participate in each step of the process. Through our Montessori-inspired approach, we focus on meaningful, hands-on experiences that encourage independence, build confidence, and give residents a sense of purpose. And the best part? We had a very special guest at Bickford today! One of our residents helped make this visit possible by inviting a longtime friend and former Chicago Cubs pitcher to spend the afternoon with us. Our residents enjoyed hearing Paul Reuschel tell us stories, being able to ask him questions, and getting a glimpse into his time playing professional baseball. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with conversation, memories, and plenty of baseball talk! A BIG thank you to Paul for taking the time to visit- and to Susan for helping bring this special opportunity to our community!

Can you guess where we are?? Our residents adventured out this afternoon for a special National Coffee Day outing to one of our local coffe shops; Bold Brew House Co! They enjoyed some time out in the community, visiting with one another, and of course choosing their favorite drinks. Our monthly card-making group had a wonderful time creating their own masterpieces with a little fall inspiration! A big thank you to Monica and Rachel for sharing their time and creativity with our residents each month. We truly appreciate the time they put into making this group special. Activities like this are a wonderful part of our Montessori approach-giving residents the opportunity to create, make choices, work with their hands, and create something meaningful to share with others.
