We want to give a special shout-out to Doris, who helped chop fresh broccoli for a homemade bread basket meal.
Her enthusiasm, steady hands, and willingness to jump in reminded us just how meaningful it is when residents can share their talents and contribute to the daily life of Bickford-their home. Moments like these aren't just about preparing food-they're about purpose, pride, and being part of something together.

We would like to say thank you to Ukulele Macomb for kicking off the holiday season at the beginning of the week! You brought joy, heart, festive music and warm holiday spirit. The residents were smiling, singing along, and feeling the joy- your music truly made the day special. Thank you and Happy Holidays.

A huge Thanksgiving “Thank You” to Dead Head Plant Ranch for donating the perfect little pumpkins! Our residents rolled up their sleeves, got a little down and dirty and created the cutest pumpkin-flower centerpieces for our holiday meal this week. And a special shout-out to Barb who took extra interest in the arrangements. Stunning, Barb! Grateful hands, creative minds and a kind community in Macomb- that’s Thanksgiving at Bickford!

We were honored to welcome WIU’s Dr. Mike Fansler, Professor of Music and Director of Bands- along with his talented students, for a special VIP Veterans Day performance at our branch yesterday. Many resident's stood tall for the National Anthem- a moment that filled the room with emotion and gratitude. The music moved us all so deeply, a group of ladies made a night of it and attended the full Wind Ensemble Veterans Concern at COFAC Hall. What made the evening even more special? Dr. Fansler’s mom joined the fun- surrounded by her new Bickford friends. Music is a beautiful way of connecting hearts and yesterday was a perfect reminder of that. What a wonderful community we have here in Macomb!

Honoring our Heroes at Bickford of Macomb! Today we proudly celebrated our veteran's with a special guest, Illinois Representative Dan Swanson-who is also a veteran! We were deeply honored to welcome Dan who joined us in recognizing our vets, TJ Eddington (Bickford employee), Jim, Paul and Cliff with a special certificate of appreciation- and a very special recognition to Mr. Paul Parks (US Air Force) for being our oldest veteran with an official Illinois flag flown over the Illinois Capital. We are grateful for your service! And a BIG thank you to Daniel for having a very special moment with us today.

There’s something extra special about fall at Bickford of Macomb- the warm autumn air and crisp-crunchy leaves during afternoon walks with caregivers who truly become friends. Here it’s not about getting a little help or a lot of help, it’s about finding freedom in each day. Assisted living means you can still enjoy walking in your neighborhood knowing someone is beside you if you need them- sharing stories, enjoying jokes and making friends. Independence isn’t lost at Bickford of Macomb-it’s rediscovered in every step, smile and shared moment. #higherpath
