This moment beautifully reflects what Higher Path is all about, connection, purpose, and meaningful engagement that enriches the lives of those we serve.
Jay recently received a heartfelt Easter card from Mary Grace, a young student at St. Peter School here in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the impact it had on him was truly special. As he read her words, you could see a genuine light come over him, a moment of pure joy, warmth, and connection. It was more than just a card, it was a reminder that he is seen, valued, and thought of by others in the community.
Mary Grace’s thoughtful message, filled with kindness and innocence, created a bridge between generations. That simple act of compassion brought Jay not only happiness, but a sense of belonging and purpose. These are the exact moments Higher Path strives to create, opportunities for residents to feel connected to something bigger than themselves.
In a world where approximately one in four adults age 65 and older experience social isolation, moments like this matter deeply. A handwritten card, a few kind words, and a young heart reaching out can make all the difference. For Jay, this was not just an Easter greeting, it was a moment of joy that stayed with him, lifting his spirits and reminding him that he is part of a caring and connected community.

Cookies, Coffee & Community There’s something special about gathering over a cup of coffee and a plate of cookies. It’s simple, familiar, and full of comfort — but more importantly, it brings people together. These small moments create space for conversation, laughter, and connection. Stories are shared, friendships grow, and even quiet moments feel a little warmer when they’re spent side by side. In a place where community matters so much, it’s often these weekly rituals that make the biggest impact. A fresh cup of coffee, a sweet treat, and good company can turn an ordinary day into something meaningful. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the cookies or the coffee — it’s about the people you share them with.

April Fool’s Fun & Plenty of Laughs! We had quite the day full of tricks, treats, and lots of laughter for our April Fool’s adventures! From “Brown Es” (not quite what you’d expect, but recipe included!) to refreshing “Lemon-aid,” a surprising “water spill,” and some creative root beer “floats,” the fun kept everyone guessing. And just when we thought we’d seen it all, our activities calendar apparently decided to run away from its responsibilities — we’re still looking for it! The best part of the day wasn’t the tricks, though — it was the laughter, the smiles, and the joy shared all around. Moments like these remind us how fun it is to be a little silly now and then. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did — April Fool’s never disappoints!

Little Things That Keep Hands & Hearts Busy Sometimes, it’s the simplest activities that make the biggest difference. Busy boards — filled with buttons, zippers, latches, textures, and familiar objects — offer a gentle, engaging way to keep hands moving and minds active. There’s something comforting about having a task to focus on. Whether it’s snapping a buckle, sliding a zipper, or exploring different textures, these small movements can bring a sense of purpose, calm, and even a bit of fun. They also tap into familiar, everyday motions that feel natural and reassuring. Beyond keeping busy, these moments often spark curiosity, conversation, and even a few smiles. It’s amazing how something so simple can create connection and a sense of accomplishment. At the end of the day, it’s not about doing something big — it’s about creating meaningful moments, one small interaction at a time.

Opening day of Major League Baseball calls for a celebration! Today we had a lively menu, enthusiastic staff, and fun decorations to boot! We learned how baseballs, bats, gloves, and bases are made, thanks to the Science Channel! Did you know that baseballs are still made by hand?
