The Goal Is Not Just Longevity
In healthcare, people often talk about adding years to life.
At Bickford, we believe in adding life to those years.
The HigherPath is rooted in the understanding that wellness is more than medications, diagnoses, and appointments. True wellness is found in purpose. In movement. In conversation. In laughter. In belonging.
It is found in the resident who still folds towels because it gives them meaning.
The resident who lights up when music begins to play.
The resident who may forget names, but never forgets how it feels to be loved, respected, and included.
These are not just moments.
They are interventions.
Every purposeful interaction helps stimulate the mind, support emotional well-being, and preserve function. Every team member has the ability to positively influence a resident’s journey simply by being present, intentional, and compassionate.
That is the power of the HigherPath.
Not waiting for decline.
Not accepting isolation as part of aging.
Not believing someone’s story is over simply because they are older.
We continue to meet residents where they are, while helping them move toward the highest quality of life possible.
Because the goal was never just more time.
The goal is meaningful time.

The Beauty of Quiet Moments Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the quiet ones — sitting outside in the fresh air, soaking up nature, sharing conversation, or even simply resting beside someone you trust. One-on-one time creates comfort, connection, and a sense of peace that can make all the difference in someone’s day. Whether it’s listening to the birds, feeling the sunshine, or catching a little shut eye in the company of a caring friend, these gentle moments help the heart feel safe and at ease. It’s a beautiful reminder that care often looks like simply being present.

Happy Birthday, Robyn! Today we’re celebrating the one and only Robyn — our incredible baker, breakfast maker, and interior decorating extraordinaire! Truly, there is nothing Robyn can’t do, and we are beyond blessed to have her as part of the Bickford Family. Her kindness, patience, and warm smile make Bickford of Lincoln such a welcoming and beautiful place to call home. Robyn has a special way of bringing goodness wherever she goes, and her caring heart touches everyone around her. We hope your birthday is as wonderful and joy-filled as you are, Robyn!

Cloudy Skies & Garden Goals We took advantage of the cloudy weather today to get the rest of our planting done! Four tomato plants and one cantaloupe plant officially found their new home in the courtyard. Now comes the exciting part — watching everything grow! There’s something so rewarding about planting with your own hands and knowing all the hard work will pay off later in the season. We can already taste the fresh tomatoes and sweet cantaloupe! #BickfordOfLincoln #HomeGrown #GardenGoals #Montessori

Memorial Day Movie Marathon We spent Memorial Day relaxing with a movie marathon filled with snacks, drinks, great films, and even better company. There’s something special about gathering together, settling in with popcorn and a favorite drink, and enjoying a day of laughter, conversation, and classic movies. It was the perfect way to slow down, unwind, and enjoy the holiday together — one movie and snack break at a time!

Morning Sunshine & Pepper Plants Nancy spent the morning soaking up the sunshine while planting pepper plants, and it was the perfect way to start the day. There’s something peaceful about fresh air, warm sunshine, and getting your hands in the soil. Gardening brings so much joy — from watching things grow to simply enjoying the quiet moments outdoors. Now we’ll all be waiting patiently to see those pepper plants sprout and thrive! A little sunshine and a little gardening truly go a long way.

Arm Chair Travel Update: Aloha from Hawaii! It had been a little while since our last Arm Chair Travel adventure post, so we thought we would update everyone on where we have been going! On Monday, we decided it was time for a tropical getaway to Hawaii! From beautiful beaches to island culture and ocean views, it was the perfect escape. One of the best parts of Arm Chair Travel is that there’s no airfare, no packing, and no jet lag involved — just good company and the comfort of our own living room. We may not have left the building, but for a little while, it sure felt like we were soaking up the island sunshine together. We can’t wait to see where our next adventure takes us!

The Joy of a Good Story There’s nothing quite like a great story shared among friends. Diana, a published author, had Linda and Jay completely captivated as she shared her storytelling and brought everyone into the moment with her words. It’s moments like these — filled with laughter, smiles, and genuine connection — that make our community feel so bright and joyful. Stories have a special way of bringing people together, sparking memories, and reminding us of the joy found in simply spending time with one another. #BickfordofLincoln #Montessori
