It just wouldn't be a county fair without lots of rain and even a power outage! But that didn't stop our residents from enjoying a fun-filled day at the fair.
The day began with a visit from the amazing Golden Manes of Valor and their miniature horses. Residents loved spending time with the horses and received goody bags, along with a special framed photo of themselves with one of their new four-legged friends.
Of course, no fair would be complete without delicious food! Residents enjoyed corn dogs, corn on the cob, ice cream sundaes, lemonade shake-ups, and funnel cakes.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was the pie-in-the-face, where residents and leadership had a blast throwing pies at staff members. There were plenty of smiles and laughs to go around!
Later, the wonderful Stacy Fox brought chickens, including a huge rooster, for an educational and interactive presentation. Residents learned interesting facts about chickens and especially enjoyed the opportunity to hold them.
Despite the rainy weather and power outage, our residents had an unforgettable county fair experience filled with animals, treats, laughter, and great memories!

What a wonderful week at Bickford! Our very own Queen of Bickford celebrated her 99th birthday with a special surprise visit from Kim and Kevin Klein, making her day even more memorable. We also enjoyed a creative afternoon with Nicole from the Art Center, who helped residents design beautiful garden stakes to brighten our outdoor spaces. To top it all off, today is National Senior Citizens Day, and we celebrated by taking senior portraits of our amazing residents. It was a fun opportunity to capture their smiles, personalities, and the wisdom they bring to our community every day. Happy National Senior Citizens Day to all the incredible seniors who inspire us daily!

The day was filled with simple pleasures and sweet memories. From peanut butter cookies, then the homemade ice cream was carefully mixed and churned, creating a delicious treat everyone eagerly anticipated. As the ice cream chilled, it was time for a little pampering. Our amazing nurse Crystal gave relaxing pedicures that brought smiles, conversation, and a chance to unwind. To top off the perfect day, everyone sat down to enjoy the homemade ice cream they had made. Between the cookies, the ice cream, and the relaxing pedicures, it was a day full of joy, laughter, and wonderful memories.

Celebrating Sue's Independence and Dedication! At Bickford, we encourage and celebrate independence, and Sue is an amazing example of what that looks like. Her commitment to staying active in her community is truly inspiring. Sue has been a member of the Burlington Municipal Band for an incredible 78 years. Her dedication, passion for music, and lifelong involvement demonstrate the importance of pursuing what you love and remaining engaged in the things that bring joy and purpose to life. We are proud to celebrate Sue and her remarkable achievement. She reminds us all that independence is not defined by age, but by the determination to keep doing what you love.

What a fun-filled week we had here! Nicole from the Art Center joined us for a painting activity, and residents enjoyed expressing their creativity. We also had a lovely tea time, complete with antique hats that brought plenty of smiles and laughter. Residents helped pick fresh, ripe tomatoes from the garden and enjoyed them at lunch. Another favorite activity was making and enjoying delicious root beer floats together. The gentlemen of Mary B's worked hard pounding nails into our string art boards, helping prepare for a beautiful craft project. We topped off the week by celebrating our August birthdays with a wonderful party featuring music by Joyful Sounds and, of course, delicious birthday cake! It was a week filled with creativity, teamwork, tasty treats, and joyful memories. #BickfordofBurlington
