Laughter filled the room as balloons floated through the air during a joyful game of Balloon Volleyball in our Mary B’s community. What started as a simple activity quickly turned into a heartwarming moment of connection, movement, and pure fun for everyone involved.
Our residents were fully engaged—reaching, tapping, cheering, and smiling as they worked together to keep the balloons in the air. Balloon volleyball is always a favorite because it’s accessible for all ability levels, encourages gentle movement, and sparks friendly interaction. The excitement was contagious, and it didn’t take long before the entire room was buzzing with energy.
Family members and members of the community joined right in, creating a beautiful atmosphere of togetherness. It was especially meaningful to have our amazing pastor with us—who faithfully visits our residents several times a week—joining in the fun and laughter. His presence, along with the shared joy of the game, made the experience even more special.
Moments like these remind us how powerful simple activities can be in memory care. Balloon volleyball offered not just physical engagement, but emotional connection, social interaction, and a sense of belonging. Everyone—residents, families, staff, and community friends—played a part, and everyone left with smiles on their faces.
At Mary B’s Memory Care, we cherish these joyful moments that bring our community closer together. Fun, faith, family, and fellowship truly filled the room, and we can’t wait for the next round of balloon volleyball!

Today was all about a sweet, sugary celebration here at Bickford of Burlington—as we celebrated national cream cheese day. Our residents rolled up their sleeves and made those fancy “wedding-style” cream cheese mints—and let me tell you, there was a job for everyone. From mixing the cream cheese and powdered sugar to pressing the mints with a fork, teamwork was in full swing. Of course, no job is complete without discussing pay rates—we had negotiations ranging anywhere from 50 cents an hour to a whopping $3.00 an hour, and the laughs that came with it were priceless! The dining room was filled with laughter, stories, and lots of sweet memories being made. Our residents are very excited to enjoy their creations tomorrow. What a fun and laughter-filled afternoon at Bickford of Burlington

Our Memory Care residents had a wonderful time at Baking Club making muffins with Ashleigh! The activity filled the unit with the comforting smell of fresh baking and lots of smiles. Residents helped measure ingredients, mix the batter, and take turns stirring. These familiar steps encouraged engagement, teamwork, and meaningful moments of connection. The best part was enjoying the muffins they made together. Baking Club continues to be a fun and rewarding way for residents to stay active, social, and happy—one sweet treat at a time!

Sometimes, the right environment makes all the difference. Sandy’s journey is a beautiful example of how a more personal, supportive setting can help someone truly thrive. After transitioning from our assisted living community to a smaller, more intimate memory care environment, Sandy has shown remarkable growth—socially, physically, and emotionally. In memory care, Sandy is more engaged and connected than ever before. She’s interacting with other residents, joining conversations, and participating in activities she previously showed little interest in. The close-knit setting has encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone, building meaningful connections and rediscovering joy in everyday moments. Mealtimes have also become more successful, with noticeable improvements in both her eating and drinking habits. Physically, Sandy has made great strides as well. With shorter walking distances and a layout designed specifically for safety and ease, her gait has become steadier and more confident. This change has led to a reduction in falls and has given her greater independence and peace of mind. Most importantly, Sandy is happy—and it shows. She is thriving in an environment tailored to her needs, reminding us why personalized memory care can be truly life-changing. #HigerPath #BickfordofBurlington

Celebrating Progress: Fran’s Journey to a Longer, Happier, Healthier Life At our assisted living community, we love sharing success stories that highlight resilience, commitment, and the power of the right support. One such story is Fran’s. Over the past several months, Fran has made remarkable progress in his mobility and overall safety. Thanks to his dedication—and the support of FOX Therapy—Fran has experienced a 66% reduction in falls, a meaningful improvement that has positively impacted his confidence and quality of life. Fran currently utilizes FOX Therapy services, which provide specialized physical and occupational therapy right within the assisted living setting. His therapy program focuses on balance training, strengthening exercises, and functional movement, all tailored to his individual needs and goals. These targeted interventions help Fran move more safely, improve his stability, and maintain greater independence in his daily activities. Beyond the physical benefits, Fran’s progress has brought peace of mind to both him and those around him. Fewer falls mean more confidence, more participation in daily routines, and a greater sense of control over his well-being. Fran’s story is a wonderful example of how personalized therapy and consistent effort can lead to real, measurable results. We are proud of his hard work and grateful for the partnership with FOX Therapy in helping our residents stay active, safe, and thriving. #HigherPath #BickfordofBurlington #FOXTherapy
