Flu in the Elderly
Flu (influenza) can be serious for adults aged 65 and older because the immune system becomes weak with age.
Why is it risky:
- higher chance of pneumonia
- worsening of heart disease, diabetes, or asthma
- increased risk of hospitalization
Symptoms:
Fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue.
In seniors, symptoms may be mild- watch for confusion, weakness, or sudden decline.
Prevention:
- get the yearly flu vaccine
- wash hands often
- seek medical care early if symptoms appear
Protect yourself and your loved ones!

What’s our favorite part of the day? At the end of our daily roots meeting where we share our appreciations. Here we talked about “Grit” and shared an example of another BFM exemplifying this core value. Such an uplifting start to our shift! #bickfordofbourbonnais #bickfordassistedliving #grit
