Before moving to Bickford of Macomb, Susan Shoemaker experienced a significant fall at home, which resulted in an open wound on her left lower leg. She had been receiving treatment at a wound clinic, but healing was progressing slowly. After transitioning to Bickford and receiving managed healthcare, her wound care was transferred to a new clinic, reassessed, and within three months, the wound was fully healed. #higherpath

Today our community celebrated the unconditional love and joy that dogs bring into our lives. A big thank you to our very own Maintenance Coordinator, TJ for sharing his furry best friend with us!

Earlier this week we took a trip back in time to the Western Illinois Museum. Residents enjoyed exploring exhibits that tell the story of our community's past-and were especially intrigued learning about a remarkable local woman who bravely fought for women's rights. As always, thank you to Museum owner Sue Scott. We are always fascinated with the history you share with us and look forward to next time!

Our residents had a blast at our County Fair-Themed Day yesterday- a day filled with laughter, sunshine and old-fashioned fair fun! We enjoyed everything from classic fair games to sweet ice cream treats, to cheering at the dunk tank splash zone- with our very own Maintenance Coordinator taking the plunge! And the highlight of the day?, crowning our very own Fair Queen and King. They wore their crowns with pride and brought smiles to those of all ages! It was a day of joy, connection and cherished memories- just another magical day in our community.

Today we celebrate one of our own, Shakara, who has grown so much during their time here! While we’re sad to see her go, we’re excited for their next chapter as they relocate to Bickford of Tinley Park. We know their talents and dedication will make an incredible impact there—just as they did here. Thank you for all you’ve given! You will always be part of our family, and we can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things you’ll accomplish! Please join us in wishing them the very best in their new adventure.
