Today we’d like to extend a special thank you to the incredible Suncrest team, Welcome Home Care and Executive Care for volunteering their time at Bickford to host our Mobile Wash! Their efforts in cleaning and sanitizing assistive devices made a meaningful impact on the health, safety, and comfort of our residents. Beyond the service itself, their kindness, teamwork, and willingness to give back truly stood out. We also had a great time spending a few hours with these great teams-sharing laughs, building connections, and enjoying each other’s company. It’s moments like these that remind us how valuable strong partnerships and a little fun along the way can be. We are so grateful for such a dedicated and compassionate group—what an amazing team!

Today, Suncrest, Welcome Home and Executive Care hosted our “Mobile Wash,” focusing on keeping our residents’ assistive devices clean, safe, and in great condition. Walkers, wheelchairs, and canes were thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, helping to reduce the spread of germs while also ensuring each device remains comfortable and reliable for daily use. This simple but important service supports both infection control and overall resident well-being. We love offering opportunities like this that make a meaningful difference in everyday life. A clean device is a safer device—and today was all about taking that extra step to care for those we serve.

Kevin Sings the Classics at Bickford Kevin brought joy to Bickford with his “Sings the Classics” performance, filling the room with familiar tunes and smiling faces. Residents sang along, tapped their feet, and enjoyed the memories that music brings. We’re grateful to Kevin for another wonderful visit and look forward to his next performance!

A Joyful Sing-Along with Hannah from Suncrest in Mary B’s There’s something truly special about music bringing people together, and that’s exactly what happened during our recent sing-along in Mary B’s. We were delighted to welcome Hannah from Suncrest, whose energy and passion for music created a lively and heartwarming atmosphere for everyone in the room. From the very first note, residents were tapping their feet, clapping along, and joining in on familiar favorites. Music has a wonderful way of sparking memories and lifting spirits, and Hannah’s sing-along did just that. Smiles filled the room as residents sang along to beloved tunes, sharing laughter and connection with one another. Moments like these remind us how meaningful simple joys can be. We are so grateful to Hannah and Suncrest for bringing such positivity and engagement to our community. We look forward to many more musical afternoons in Mary B’s!

At Bickford of Chesterfield, we’re always happy to see a few extra paws in the building. We’re a pet-friendly community, and visits from loved ones’ pets can be especially meaningful for residents living in our community. A friendly nuzzle or wagging tail can spark memories, ease anxiety, and bring out smiles in the most natural way. It’s a great example of a Montessori principle we value—engaging the senses through familiar, meaningful experiences. We invite families to bring in their pets to visit not only your loved one, but to brighten the day for other residents and our BFM’s as well. The Encore Dancers brought energy, joy, and excitement to our community with a wonderful performance. Residents enjoyed the music, clapped along, and were truly uplifted by the experience. We are so grateful for the smiles they brought and look forward to their next visit!

Warmer Temperatures are here! As warmer temperatures arrive, staying hydrated becomes more important than ever. Our bodies need more water in the heat, and dehydration can lead to fatigue, dizziness, and discomfort—especially for older adults who may not always feel thirsty. Make it a habit to drink water throughout the day, not just when you’re thirsty. Keep a water bottle nearby, enjoy hydrating foods like fruit, and add a splash of flavor with lemon or cucumber. A little extra water each day can help you feel your best all season long!

Mrs. W’s Higher Path began in mid-January when she took a hard fall that many feared would mark the start of a long decline. In senior living, such events often lead to reduced functioning and lost independence, but Mrs. W had other plans. After a right hip repair and several weeks in skilled nursing, her family wondered if she would ever return to Bickford of Chesterfield. Yet every time someone questioned her resilience, she met them with a spark in her eye and her signature line: “Strong like bull.” Back at Bickford, the team trained in dementia care and restorative communication supported her healing with patience, clear cues, and encouragement. Gradually, she regained her strength. Before retirement, Mrs. W had been an avid gardener, winning community flowerbed contests, and nurturing plants with a blend of structure and care. That same nurturing energy now shaped her recovery. Today, she is back where she belongs, walking the halls, sharing jokes, and proving that resilience does not fade with age. It grows, just like the strongest roots in rich soil. A Special Visit from the Easter Bunny (Continued) As the Easter Bunny made their way around, the room filled with warmth and laughter. Residents enjoyed one-on-one moments, sharing stories, gentle hugs, and plenty of smiles. For many, it was a chance to reconnect with cherished traditions and relive joyful memories from years past. The visit also created a wonderful sense of togetherness, bringing residents and staff closer as everyone joined in the celebration. A Special Visit from the Easter Bunny We had a very special guest hop in to celebrate—none other than the Easter Bunny! The visit brought smiles, laughter, and a wonderful sense of holiday cheer to everyone. Residents enjoyed spending time with the Easter Bunny, snapping photos, sharing laughs, and soaking in the festive spirit. It was a heartwarming experience that brought out joy and a few sweet memories of Easters past.
