Today in Mary B’s Creative Corner, our Assisted Living and Memory Care residents came together for a morning full of creativity, connection, and smiles. From coloring beautiful designs to tackling word puzzles and crafting colorful friendship bracelets, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The room was filled with laughter, conversation, and the simple joy of spending time together. To make the morning even more special, our wonderful aide Anissa brought in her cat, Mylo Wayne, to visit as a therapy companion. His gentle presence brought comfort, happiness, and plenty of extra smiles to our residents. Our St. Patrick’s Day party was nothing short of magical! From the moment happy hour kicked off at our festive bar, the smiles and laughter were flowing just as freely as the drinks. Residents tried their luck with Gold Coin Bingo—where every round brought excitement, friendly competition, and a whole lot of fun! And of course, no celebration is complete without treats! Our table was filled with delicious homemade cookies and a beautiful rainbow fruit tray that was almost too pretty to eat (almost). Here at Bickford of Battle Creek, our morning was filled with a little sunshine and a whole lot of nature. Residents Karen, Jan, Cindy, and Sandy worked together to carefully fill each bird feeder, getting them ready for our feathered friends in the courtyard. It was a wonderful Montessori moment, watching them work as a team and get excited for the birds that will soon come to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Bird watching offers so many incredible benefits for our residents. It helps stimulate the mind as they identify birds, notice colors, and listen for different songs. It can reduce stress and promote a sense of calm, creating peaceful moments that brighten the day. Spending time outdoors also encourages a connection with nature and the world around us. Moments like these often spark conversation and memories, as residents share stories of birds they’ve seen or experiences from the past. Bird watching also supports focus and observation, encouraging everyone to slow down and truly enjoy their surroundings. And of course, helping care for the feeders creates a wonderful sense of purpose and pride.
