Our residents recently enjoyed a special floral activity that brought beauty and joy throughout our branch. Thanks to the generosity of our Montessori Engagement Coordinator, who shared stunning peony flowers grown in her own backyard, residents had the opportunity to create their own beautiful flower arrangements.
With vibrant blooms and plenty of creativity, residents carefully arranged the peonies into eye-catching displays that now brighten our common areas. The activity encouraged self-expression, sparked meaningful conversations, and provided a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature.
The finished arrangements have added a touch of color and warmth to our branch, bringing smiles to residents, staff, and visitors alike. We are grateful for the thoughtful contribution and for the chance to create something beautiful together.

While helping pass out mail today, one of our residents stopped to chat with a fellow resident. Moments like these remind us that even everyday tasks can create opportunities for friendship, connection, and meaningful conversation. We love seeing residents support one another and enjoy time together throughout the day!

Our first Grandma’s Kitchen was a sweet success! Residents had a wonderful time baking homemade peanut butter cookies, filling the community with delicious aromas and even sweeter smiles. The best part was sharing their tasty creations with everyone to enjoy. We can’t wait for the next Grandma’s Kitchen adventure!

Karen on Bickford of West Lansing's Higher path. Karen is putting in the work focusing on her balance and challenging herself to see just how far she can reach! ???? Using numbered targets, Karen is strengthening not just her body, but her confidence too—one reach at a time. Every stretch, every step forward is a win, and we’re so proud of her dedication. ???? Keep going, Karen—you’re an inspiration! ???? #HigherPath #ResidentStrength #BalanceTraining

Joel, one of our cherished memory care residents, worked with PT on a balance activity that also supported cognitive engagement. As he walked carefully through a series of cones, Joel practiced not only steady movement but also focus, direction-following, and spatial awareness. These simple yet meaningful exercises help stimulate memory, encourage concentration, and build confidence in a safe environment. Watching Joel stay engaged and work through each step with determination was truly inspiring. Moments like these highlight how physical activity and memory support go hand in hand on the journey to maintaining independence and quality of life. #HigherPathMoment #MemoryCare #PhysicalTherapy
