Meet Mike P. My HigherPath for the week!
Almost a year ago in September of 2025, Mike P. Came to Bickford of Bloomington in a wheelchair and today he's walking,-independently at times.
His success story is proof that with hard work perseverance, and the support of our Savvy physical therapist Josh and Taylor our occupational therapist, Mike's journey is nothing short of inspiring.
From day one Mike let Josh know he wanted to be worked hard and his ultimate goal was to walk again.
When asked how he feels about the progress he's made, Mike stated " it took a lot to get to where I am now but with me telling Josh to work me hard and me not giving up on my personal goals, I am now able to walk with my walker as well as walk a few steps by myself without holding on to anything. My hard work continues and I now can look forward to a future of living independently. I appreciate all of the hard work that Taylor and Josh have put into my success and to me they are living miracle workers."
I couldn't have said it better myself we have a great team here at Bickford of Bloomington.

Meet Don and Debbie H. a beautiful couple from a local church here in town. They started volunteering at Bickford of Bloomington at the beginning of the year. What started out as a friendly game of cards on a Friday afternoon truned into so much more. Bickford's of Bloomington card club was born! Residents meet the two once a week and they play cards for hours. The smiles and laughter bring on lookers to the living room just to watch the competition unfold. The way Don and Mike go back and forth with each other jokingly have residents and staff alike fighting to keep their composure.

Today at Bickford of Bloomington the morning exercise class decided to pose for a picture after a great workout. Then mid morning the ladies of Bickford enjoy some tea amongst friends. We ended our afternoon by taking advantage of the warm weather with a brisk walk around the neighborhood, before settling on the porch to enjoy the sunshine. What a great day at Bickford of Bloomington #IndependentLiving #SeniorLiving #MemoryCare #AssistedLiving

Today during our Montessori activity, the residents shifted our conversation from Land and Sea to relationships. Jeff's wife Debbie shared with the group their love story. Married for 58 years this coming May, they shared their "I do's" just a day before her 19th birthday. To see the way he still looks at her when she comes to visit is so sweet. You can see the everlasting love is still in the air with these two love brids.

Today at Bickford of Bloomington we learned a new game called Jokers and Pags taught by our very own Lori B. Lori shared with the group how her late husband made the very game board we were playing on by hand because he loved the game so much. Being able to share that moment with us brightened her day so much, it brightened the day of everyone she shared her story with.
